Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 will meet today in Brussel. This is the first high level meeting since Ohrid, where the parties reached an Agreement.<\/p>\n
The meeting is called by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. Both Kurti and Vu\u010di\u0107 have confirmed they\u2019ll be part of it.<\/p>\n
The meeting will be focused in the implementation of the Agreement towards normalization between Kosovo and Serbia. Both parties are expected to approve the Declaration on Missing Persons as the first item on the agenda, followed by the presentation and discussion on the first draft-status of the Community of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo. Leaders will also be able to discuss other important political matters. International partners have high hopes that today\u2019s meeting will be constructive for all sides.<\/p>\n
Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti is already in Brussel. He had a phone call with the Counselor of the United States Department of State, Derek Chollet. They spoke about the importance of implementing the Agreement reached earlier in Ohrid. Kurti thanked Chollet for USA\u2019s continuous support in overcoming the first phase towards Council of Europe membership for Kosovo, as well as their engagement in the dialogue with Serbia. On the other hand, Chollet said he had a good conversation with Kurti on the importance of implementing the Association for Serb-majority Municipalities immediately.<\/p>\n
Last week, Chollet had another phone call with Vu\u010di\u0107, where they stressed the importance of partnership between the US and Serbia, as well as the creation of the Association.<\/p>\n
Serbia insists in creating an association with broad jurisdiction, but Kosovo says this will put state functionality at risk. Kurti previously said he won\u2019t allow the creation of a \u201cRepublika Srpska\u201d in Kosovo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
