Each year, averagely 120 children go missing in Albania, but fortunately most of them are found within a short period of time.<\/p>\n
On the International Missing Children\u2019s Day, it is reported that 16 children have gone missing in the span of 30 years. Although investigations have been conducted, the fate of these children remains yet unknown.<\/p>\n
In order to avoid such cases, Albania will be the first country in the Balkans to announce the Amber Signal. It is a signal issued by the Police to engage all institutions and the community in finding and recovering a lost or missing child.<\/p>\n
The International Center for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC), in cooperation with the State Police and the Child Rights Centre Albania have drawn up work protocols that will be implemented by the Police. Global company Meta, which has agreed to cooperate with the State Police, will distribute alert notifications for missing children.<\/p>\n
