Thomas Waitz, politician for the Greens Party and Member of the European Parliament condemned all violent acts committed by Serbs against KFOR soldiers.<\/p>\n
Waitz took to Twitter to express concerns of the crisis in the north of Kosovo.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday\u2019s attacks against journalists and NATO\/KFOR by ethnic Serbs in North Kosovo are completely unacceptable. The escalation must end immediately. The EU will continue to support the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Waitz criticized Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 for escalating the situation and appealed to the European People\u2019s Party to end cooperation with him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese escalations are the result of years of Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107\u2019s ethno-nationalist politics and divisive rhetoric. Even KFOR soldiers and journalists have become targets of this readiness for violence. I condemn the attacks in the strongest term. The European People\u2019s Party (EPP) must urgently end its cooperation with Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, against whom massive protests are currently taking place in Serbia. The EU is already discussing a freeze of the accession talks with Serbia. The current crisis in North Kosovo may distract from Vu\u010di\u0107\u2019s problems at home but will benefit neither Serbia nor Kosovo in the long run. We urgently need political solutions to the crisis in North Kosovo and a return of both sides to the negotiation table in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n
