In the neighborhood no. 15 of Durr\u00ebs, a historic plaque was discovered that is thought to belong to the XI-XIV century.<\/p>\n
“It was found by chance by a resident of the area, who took it in his apartment and informed the history researchers”, said Kloida Gjuzi, Journalist of Euronews Albania<\/p>\n
Dorian Hatibi observed it closely, giving the first details in an interview for “Euronews Albania”.<\/p>\n
“It is about a 60 cm and 40 cm plate. It is apparently a plaque belonging to a cult object. In order to give an accurate conclusion, the entire inscription must be read, which is unfortunately illegible, but what is left of the legible is Andrea’s name”, said Dorian Hatibi, history researcher.<\/p>\n
But with what do researchers associate this name?<\/p>\n
“There have been several important characters in the history of the city named Andrea and also several monuments that bear his name.<\/p>\n
For example, the church donated by the emperor Alex Komneni at the end of the century. XI of the Venetians bore the name of St. Andrew. It is a very important church for the history of the city and if the stone would correspond to this monument, then we would finally have the material evidence that proves the existence of a church dedicated to this saint.<\/p>\n
Another character in the city is that of the noble Andrea Muzakaj, who was a noble with a great influence in the background of the city. After he died, he was buried inside a church located in the city. It could be a stone that refers to the grave of this nobleman named Andrea”, said Dorian Hatibi, history researcher.<\/p>\n
An accidental find, which was once again in danger of disappearing to take with it an important part of history.<\/p>\n
“From what appears in the first observations, the stone belongs to the XI-XIV century. It belongs to a period, for which unfortunately we have a lot of written information, but we have very little found material. This stone would go to complete a mosaic, which is still incomplete, we are talking about the late Middle Ages. It is also important for the content of a central symbol that was written in a Gothic style, a style that mainly belongs to the western part of Europe”, said Dorian Hatibi, history researcher.<\/p>\n
Although so important to history, the historic plaque continues to remain inside this apartment, waiting for institutions to show interest.<\/p>\n
“It is not possible to fully study an object or an archaeological artifact under those conditions. So, the object must be transported as soon as possible within an institution, to create the opportunity for archaeologists to study it in detail”, said Dorian Hatibi, history researcher.<\/p>\n
