Key Members of the European Parliament dealing with the Western Balkans region have called for sanctions against the leader of Republika Srpska entity Milorad Dodik, due to his secessionist actions that undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n
Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister, rapporteur for Bosnia and Herzegovina Paulo Rangel, and Head of the Delegation for Kosovo and Bosnia and Hercegovina Romeo Franz, through a joint statement, have requested urgent measures from the EU against Milorad Dodik.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can no longer tolerate secessionists and their supporters systematically endangering Bosnia and Herzegovina,\u201d their statement says.<\/p>\n
They condemn the decision of the Assembly of the Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina to not accept the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, considering it a direct attack on the Constitutional order and the Dayton Agreement.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn light of the recent provocations by President Dodik and other leading officials of Republika Srpska, additional actions from the European Union are urgently needed. The European Parliament has consistently called on the Council to move from verbal declarations to specific actions against those who intentionally jeopardize the constitutional order and the integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is high time for the EU and its member states to finally impose sanctions against Milorad Dodik, who is already sanctioned by the United States and the United Kingdom,\u201d the statement says.<\/p>\n
They have noted that the credibility of the European Union is at stake, and the EU can no longer be satisfied with verbal declarations in support of the actions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina but must actively take measures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
