Interior Minister Taulant Balla held a meeting today with the leaders of the Local Police Directorate of Kuk\u00ebs, where he introduced the new director Artan Bajraktari.<\/p>\n
Minister Balla stated that there is a long-standing but unimplemented Code of Ethics.<\/p>\n
“In the Code of Ethics it is stated that State Police leaders cannot sit in cafes and restaurants neither during work nor after work, except for family reasons or other reasons that have been previously informed by their superiors.<\/p>\n
But not only this does not happen, but unfortunately it also happens that directors and chiefs of police stations have inappropriate contacts in the premises, where even sensitive information about work and police actions is forwarded to criminals.<\/p>\n
Of course also in other ways, but this way that I am talking about is not only as scandalous as the others, but also a humiliating the blood of the Martyrs of the State Police and for every citizen of the Republic of Albania, in addition to being the worst and most demotivating example for the employees of the State Police under the authority of the directors and chiefs of this low moral profile”, said Balla.<\/p>\n
Further, Minister Balla asked the police structures to manage well and show increased care for the flows of vacationers entering or leaving the border crossing points with Kosovo.<\/p>\n
Balla also presented today in Kuk\u00ebs, the new district prefect, Albert Halilaj. In the ceremony held, Balla was accompanied by MP Pandeli Majko and senior local officials. In the introductory speech, Balla spoke about the need to review and the role of the prefect.<\/p>\n
“The time has come to review and re-dimension the role of the prefect within the territorial administrative reform and the law on local self-government”, said Balla, underlining that according to the law, the prefect is the highest local authority.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the relations of the prefect with local elected officials, Balla said that the prefect must constantly monitor the decisions made by the municipal councils.<\/p>\n
