The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that the authorities in Kosovo do not want elections.<\/p>\n
“Let them do their job, but they don’t even want those elections, they don’t want anything,” Vu\u010di\u0107 said after attending the final training phase of members of the Serbian Armed Forces.<\/span><\/p>\n Vu\u010di\u0107 made this statement when he was asked by a journalist how he comments on the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, who the day before said that Kosovo should not announce elections in municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north until the European Union lifts the punitive measures imposed on Kosovo.<\/span><\/p>\n However, on July 25, the European Union reiterated the call for the announcement of elections by Kosovo, as well as called for the Serbs living in the four northern municipalities to participate in these elections.<\/span><\/p>\n “We do not comment on comments. However, we take the opportunity to reiterate that the EU expects the parties to implement the demands that were expressed in the declaration of the 27 EU countries on June 3, 2023. This clearly includes that extraordinary elections should be announced as soon as possible, organized comprehensively in all four Serbian municipalities in the north.
