The Greek media have devoted a long article to the controversy that the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, had at a distance with Prime Minister Edi Rama.<\/p>\n

Protothema writes that in the following days Beler’s lawyers will submit to the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office a new request for the release of the mayor, requesting that he be released under strict conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Greek media emphasizes that the critical date for “Beleri\u2019s case” is September 15, since if he is not sworn in by this date, then the municipality of Himara will resort to new elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The critical date for Beleri, even though many consider the relevant law as unclear with many interpretations, is September 15. Until then, he must be sworn in and assume official duties, otherwise Himara\u2019s elections will be repeated,” the article states.<\/span><\/p>\n

Protothema writes that Beleri’s right to due process is being violated.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Basically, Beleri and Kokaveshi are being prosecuted, where the former risks losing his office after not being sworn in as mayor, for 400 euros with which they allegedly bought the votes of their compatriots. Commenting on the announcement of the Albanian Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Corruption, sources from the Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Albanian prosecutor’s office “prejudices the outcome of the proceedings by violating the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.
