Albania has achieved record-breaking tourist numbers during the first 8 months of this year, according to Mirela Kumbaro, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, who shared the figures on social media<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kumbaro highlighted that the multitude of languages heard at tourist hotspots this year is corroborated by official statistics. Albania welcomed a staggering 2 million foreign visitors, totaling approximately 7.2 million visitors in the first eight months of the year.<\/p>\n

Minister Kumbaro attributed this achievement to the collective efforts of various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, municipalities, tour operators, and the dedication of hoteliers and professionals in the sector who have diligently worked towards enhancing Albania\u2019s reputation as a tourist destination.<\/p>\n

The figures provided by Kumbaro reveal significant growth. In August 2022, Albania hosted 1,710,041 tourists, while in August 2023, the number rose to 2,022,754, marking an 18% increase.<\/p>\n

From January to August 2022, Albania attracted 5,667,121 tourists, whereas in January-August 2023, Albania welcomed a total of 7,190,410 tourists, representing a remarkable 27% increase.<\/p>\n

These figures closely approach the record of 7.5 million tourists achieved in 2022, marking the best year in the history of Albanian tourism in terms of visitor numbers.<\/p>\n

In addition to these impressive figures, Albania has gained international media attention for its previously undiscovered tourism potential.<\/p>\n

Alongside traditional visitors from Kosovo, which retained its top position, emerging tourist markets such as Spain, Italy, Turkey, Montenegro, and France are contributing to Albania\u2019s growing popularity.<\/p>\n

Thanks to its extensive coastline, Albania offers a diverse range of beaches, from Velipoja in Shkodra to Sh\u00ebngjin in Lezha, Durr\u00ebs, Vlora, Himara, Saranda, and more. These beaches are attracting not only Albanians but also international tourists who choose Albania as their summer destination. Additionally, historic and cultural sites like Gjirokastra, Berat, Butrint, Kruja, Tirana, and Shkodra continue to be sought-after destinations.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Albania\u2019s varied topography, stretching from the south to the north, allows for year-round tourism opportunities. Northern tourist villages are experiencing a surge in visitors, and infrastructure for adventure tourism is steadily expanding.<\/p>\n
