On September 13, 1907, Dhimit\u00ebr Pasko was born, better known to the general public by his artistic pseudonym, Mitrush Kuteli.<\/p>\n
His educational journey commenced in his birthplace, Pogradec, and later continued in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 1928, he initiated his studies in Romania, focusing on economic sciences, all the while attending various literary and foreign language courses.<\/p>\n
His graduation occurred in 1931, and by February 1934, he had achieved a doctorate in banking and monetary sciences from the University of Bucharest, earning the highest distinction, \u201cDiplomam Magnam cum Laud\u00e6\u201d. Despite this academic achievement, Pasko\u2019s work in the banking sector remains relatively obscure. He served as a technical consultant to the Albanian Central Bank from 1943 onwards.<\/p>\n
However, it was his contributions to literature, journalism, and translation that propelled him to public acclaim. Furthermore, Kuteli dedicated himself to collecting Albanian folklore from various regions and centuries.<\/p>\n
Mitrush Kuteli, recognized for his democratic ideals, found himself ensnared by the unyielding grip of dictatorship. In 1947, he was imprisoned on charges of being an enemy of the people and sentenced to five years of deprivation of liberty. Part of his sentence was served in the Vlo\u00e7isht camp in Maliq. His release came in 1949, coinciding with the severance of diplomatic ties with Yugoslavia.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the circumstances following his release did not permit him to publish, thus stifling his literary talents. Instead, he turned to translation as a means of solace.<\/p>\n
Regrettably, some of his works were confiscated and lost forever.<\/p>\n
Mitrush Kuteli passed away at the age of 60 on May 4, 1967, leaving behind a profound literary legacy and enduring characters.<\/p>\n
