During this Thursday\u2019s plenary session, the Albanian Parliament approved government changes.<\/p>\n
As a result, the Members of Parliament voted with 105 in favor of the removal of Delina Ibrahimaj from her position as Minister of Finance and Economy.<\/p>\n
The Parliament also gave its approval, with 74 votes in favor and 30 against, for Ervin Mete to assume the role of Minister of Finance and Economy.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, with 73 votes in favor and 30 against, the Parliament endorsed the appointment of Delina Ibrahimaj as the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Business Climate.<\/p>\n
Gazment Bardhi, a member of the Democratic Party, accused the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj of violating the Constitution by appointing Ervin Mete as Minister of Finance and Economy.<\/p>\n
According to Bardhi, this decree violates Article 103 of the Constitution, which prohibits the appointment to the position of minister of a public official who holds a public function. At the time of his appointment, Mete was the head of the Financial Supervisory Authority.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President has appointed a public official to the position of minister who could not be appointed due to the exercise of another public function. Mete\u2019s dismissal took place at Monday\u2019s session, several days after the President of the Republic, in violation of Article 103 of the Constitution, had appointed him as minister,\u201d Bardhi pointed out.<\/p>\n
The Democratic Party deputy also accused the Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla, arguing that it should have been the Speaker of the Parliament who should have pointed out this violation to the President.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Ina Zhupa, a deputy of the Democratic Party, stated that Ervin Mete\u2019s role is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President needs to understand when to remain silent and when to speak. The President of the Republic made the head of the FSA a minister. His mandate will go to the Constitutional Court,\u201d Zhupa said.<\/p>\n
After being voted in Parliament, both Mete and Ibrahimaj are set to be sworn in before the President, in order to assume office.<\/p>\n
The governmental adjustments were announced by Prime Minister Rama during the Socialist Party Assembly on September 4.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, five ministers were sworn in before the President.<\/p>\n
Albana Ko\u00e7iu was sworn in as the Minister of Health and Social Welfare.<\/p>\n
Ogerta Manastirliu was sworn in as the Minister of Education and Sports.<\/p>\n
Igli Hasani was sworn in as the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
Anila Denaj was sworn in as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.<\/p>\n
