Competent authorities in Kosovo have reportedly accepted MTS d.o.o.\u2019s appeal against the previous decision to revoke its business license, according to Vladimir Lu\u010di\u0107, the General Director of Telekom Srbija.<\/p>\n
However, Lu\u010di\u0107 did not specify which Kosovar institution has accepted the company\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n
Telekom Srbija holds a 100 percent stake in MTS d.o.o.<\/p>\n
In a subsequent company statement, it was announced that MTS d.o.o. continues to be properly registered and operates without disruptions in Kosovo.<\/p>\n
The statement mentioned that the Agency for Business Registration in Kosovo (ARBK) has been instructed to review all changes and data in the registry in full compliance with the Brussels Agreement and other relevant regulations.<\/p>\n
Vladimir Lu\u010di\u0107 expressed his satisfaction, saying, \u201cAfter a long and challenging struggle, the truth has now prevailed, which is of great importance to the employees, users, and our people living in Kosovo\u201d.<\/p>\n
As of the time of publication, authorities in Kosovo have not provided confirmation or comments regarding this development.<\/p>\n
MTS d.o.o. is a company that was established based on the Brussels Agreement for Telecommunications between Kosovo and Serbia in 2015 as part of the dialogue aimed at normalizing relations. In late 2016, the company obtained a license to operate in accordance with Kosovo\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n
However, the Government of Kosovo alleges that MTS d.o.o., along with numerous other companies, violates Kosovo\u2019s constitutional order because their documents refer to Kosovo\u2019s cities as part of Serbia.<\/p>\n
Over the past two to three years, MTS in Kosovo has acquired nearly all major cable operators in municipalities with a Serb majority in the northern and southern regions of the Ibar River. This has led the competition authority in Kosovo to launch an ex-officio investigation in late November 2022.<\/p>\n
