President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, spoke with the special envoy of Germany for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, about the attack on the Kosovo Police in the north on September 24.<\/p>\n
Osmani said that “terrorist actions and acts of aggression” are orchestrated and supported by Belgrade.<\/p>\n
“Such actions constitute an infringement of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo, and Serbia should be sanctioned for these actions,” said Osmani, according to a press release.<\/p>\n
President of Kosovo also said that the actions of the Police in the north are legitimate and are within the framework of “fulfilling their constitutional duties and protecting all citizens, without distinction”.<\/p>\n
Today, Sarrazin also met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, one day after the events in the north. Kurti informed him about the actions that Kosovo is taking after the events of Sunday.<\/p>\n
“Emissary Sarrazin expressed his condolences to the family of the police and the people of Kosovo, he condemned yesterday’s attack, calling it a criminal and terrorist attack on the Kosovo Police, and gave Germany’s support to Kosovo,” said the announcement of Kurti’s office.<\/p>\n
In the early hours of Sunday, the Kosovo Police was attacked by a group of masked and armed persons, after the law enforcement authorities tried to remove the barricades placed in Banjsk\u00e9 of Zve\u00e7an. As a result of the clashes, the police official, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed and several others were injured.<\/p>\n
The armed group then took refuge in the Banjsk\u00e9 monastery from where they clashed with the Kosovo Police. The authorities said that three attackers were killed, while on September 25 it was reported that the dead body of another suspected attacker was found. Meanwhile, six people, who are suspected to be connected to the armed group, have been arrested.<\/p>\n
