Serbia\u2019s Minister of Defense Milo\u0161 Vu\u010devi\u0107 has stated that Serbia\u2019s position in negotiations for normalizing relations with Kosovo has become \u201cmore complex\u201d following the attack in the village of Banjska in the municipality of Zvecan.<\/p>\n
\u201cA significant number of international representatives began promoting the narrative that there are terrorists in Serbia, that Serbia sponsors terrorism, and that it should be sanctioned and condemned,\u201d Vu\u010devi\u0107 told Radio Television Serbia.<\/p>\n
He reiterated Belgrade\u2019s official stance that Serbia had no connection to the September 24 attack in Banjska and emphasized that the exact nature of the incident had not yet been determined.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can see that many people in Serbia are drawing hasty conclusions about what happened in Banjska on Sunday,\u201d Vu\u010devi\u0107 remarked, adding that since 1999, \u201cSerbia has not had de facto authority\u201d in Kosovo.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis makes it much more challenging for us and our authorities to gather all the facts,\u201d said the Serbian Minister of Defense.<\/p>\n
Kosovo Police announced on Tuesday that searches of homes and properties in and around the village of Banjska in Zvecan, where an armed and masked group attacked Kosovo Police on September 24, had concluded.<\/p>\n
A Kosovo police officer was killed, and several others were injured.<\/p>\n
In the ensuing exchange of fire, Kosovo Police killed three Serbian nationals.<\/p>\n
Eight attackers were arrested and charged with terrorism, actions against Kosovo\u2019s constitutional order and security.<\/p>\n
In the area around Banjska, Kosovo Police later discovered a large arsenal of various caliber weapons.<\/p>\n
On September 26, Kosovo\u2019s Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sve\u00e7la released a video stating that among the armed individuals who clashed with Kosovo Police was Milan Radoji\u010di\u0107, Deputy Chairman of the Serb List.<\/p>\n
The Serb List is the largest party representing Kosovo Serbs and has the backing of Belgrade.<\/p>\n
Radoji\u010di\u0107 is on the U.S. blacklist due to allegations of corruption and international crime, and Kosovo authorities also link him to the murder of Oliver Ivanovi\u0107, a Serbian opposition politician in Kosovo.<\/p>\n
Kosovo authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Radoji\u010di\u0107 for \u201cwitness tampering\u201d in the \u201cBrezovica\u201d case, involving corruption and unauthorized construction.<\/p>\n
Sve\u00e7la claimed that every day it is becoming apparent that Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, through the Serb List and Deputy Chairman Milan Radoji\u010di\u0107, \u201chas launched a terrorist action against the legal and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo\u201d.<\/p>\n
