The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) rejected claims by Serbian officials that it was not allowed to participate in the police operation on September 24 in Banjska, after the Kosovo Police was attacked.<\/p>\n

“EULEX has not been prohibited from participating in or observing the operations that were carried out by the Kosovo Police on September 24”, said the mission of the European bloc to Radio Free Europe.<\/p>\n

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the head of the office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government, Petar Petkovic, have said that Kosovo did not allow EULEX to participate in the police operation, after an armed group attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, Zvecani.<\/p>\n

Vucic, during a meeting with QUINT and European Union representatives on September 26, said he asked them why “EULEX was refused” to participate in the operation in the north.<\/p>\n

“After the attack on the Kosovo Police and after the intervention of the Police, the mobile patrols of the EULEX police unit and the Reserve Police Unit, as well as other members of the EULEX staff, have been in close contact with the Police Kosovo and have gone to the area around the Banjska monastery in the north of Kosovo”, EULEX said.<\/p>\n
