Serbia\u2019s Prime Minister Ana Brnabi\u0107 has declared that Serbia will thoroughly investigate all the circumstances surrounding the attack on the Kosovo Police in Banjska, Zvecan. During an interview with Prva Television, she discussed the involvement of politician and businessman Milan Radoji\u010di\u0107, who claimed responsibility for organizing the attacks.<\/p>\n
Brnabi\u0107 emphasized that Serbia operates under the rule of law and will do everything within its legal framework and constitution to investigate the incident comprehensively and take appropriate action.<\/p>\n
She reiterated that no act of violence or killing can be justified, including the killing of a Kosovo Police officer. However, she suggested that Serbs in Kosovo have been under persistent pressure from authorities in Pristina, which, according to her, contributed to the incident. Brnabi\u0107 referred to the situation as \u201ca matter of days, a matter of minutes\u201d without providing specific evidence of the alleged pressure.<\/p>\n
Despite her assertions, Brnabi\u0107 did not present any concrete evidence regarding the claimed pressure.<\/p>\n
She stressed that Serbian authorities should collect evidence and present an accurate account of the events before the upcoming United Nations Security Council meeting scheduled for October 18.<\/p>\n
As part of the Security Council\u2019s agenda, the quarterly report by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also evaluate the work of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).<\/p>\n
Milan Radoji\u010di\u0107, the former Deputy Chairman of the Serb List, was questioned on October 3, four days after taking responsibility for the attacks. He was released on October 4.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial judge rejected the proposal from the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office in Belgrade to impose pre-trial detention on Radoji\u010di\u0107 after the interview. The prosecutor\u2019s office had requested pre-trial detention, citing the risk of flight.<\/p>\n
Radoji\u010di\u0107 is facing charges in Serbia related to the purchase of arms, ammunition, and explosives with significant destructive power from Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina, spanning from January 2023 until September 24.<\/p>\n
Radoji\u010di\u0107 vehemently denied any involvement in these alleged crimes.<\/p>\n
With the October 4 decision, Radoji\u010di\u0107 is now prohibited from leaving Serbian territory without court approval and is also banned from entering Kosovo.<\/p>\n
