Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has announced the decision for the Elbasan incinerator. Former Environment Minister, Lefter Koka, was sentenced to 8.6 years, of which he will serve 5.8 due to the summary trial.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the former general secretary of the Ministry of Environment and former deputy Alqi Blako has been declared innocent of the charge of abuse of office.<\/p>\n

GJKKO’s decisions for the Elbasan incinerator:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lefter Koka<\/strong>, 8.6 years in prison with summary trial, 5 years and 8 months<\/p>\n

Klodian Zoto<\/strong> 10 years in prison, summary trial 6 years and 8 months<\/p>\n

Mirel Mertiti<\/strong> 10 years, summary trial 6 years and 8 months<\/p>\n

Stela Gugallja<\/strong> 7 years, summary trial 4 years and 8 months<\/p>\n

Alqi Blako<\/strong> is declared innocent<\/p>\n

Pellumb Abeshi<\/strong> 4 years, summary trial 2 years and 8 months<\/p>\n

Bardhyl Cabiri<\/strong> 2 years<\/p>\n

Jonida Zeqo<\/strong> 4 years, summary trial 2 years and 8 months<\/p>\n

Serafin Papa<\/strong> 1 year 4 months in prison<\/p>\n

Former Environment Minister, Lefter Koka, was arrested on December 14, 2022 with order of Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK). There are 2 “prison arrest” measures against him, for the incinerator in Elbasan and the incinerator in Fier.<\/p>\n

SPAK claims that Lefter Koka has benefited through bribery of 5 million euros for the construction of 2 incinerators.<\/p>\n
