The former KLA fighter was released from prison after the Court of Appeal refused to extradite him to The Hague Court.<\/p>\n
He spoke after his release to the media where he said that he has never lost his freedom. He said that today it was proven that they are on the right path and that the KLA has fought righteously.<\/p>\n
“I want to say that we had never lost our freedom, neither I nor the Kosovo Liberation Army, nor those who are in The Hague. It was simply an attempt to frighten us, to frighten us, to throw us off our path and tell us that we were not on the right path.<\/p>\n
The fact that today with all the efforts of this reform for justice, to remove from the system of justice and the court capable and patriotic, famously, no one has achieved that condition to do it.<\/p>\n
Today we managed to show again that we are on the right path and we have fought the right way”, said Dritan Goxhaj after his release.<\/p>\n
We remind that Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31, 2023 with an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo for the purpose of extradition to The Hague.<\/p>\n
The former KLA fighter was accused of revealing the names of witnesses in several cases previously opened by the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo.<\/p>\n
Goxhaj was charged as a suspect for the criminal offenses of obstructing the work of officials and intimidation of witnesses under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.<\/p>\n
This Tuesday, the Court of Appeal in Tirana accepted the request of the defense for his release. The appeal also decided to consider inadmissible the request made by the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo for his extradition to The Hague<\/p>\n
