{"id":62233,"date":"2023-11-02T18:19:27","date_gmt":"2023-11-02T17:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=62233"},"modified":"2023-11-02T18:19:27","modified_gmt":"2023-11-02T17:19:27","slug":"kosovo-president-associations-draft-statute-should-be-reviewed-by-constitutional-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/kosovo-president-associations-draft-statute-should-be-reviewed-by-constitutional-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Kosovo President: Association\u2019s Draft Statute should be reviewed by Constitutional Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has said that the proposal for the Draft Statute of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo should be subject to a review by the country&#8217;s Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n<p>Osmani made these comments during a meeting with the ambassador of the United States in Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, according to a press release from the Presidency of Kosovo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;During the meeting it was also discussed about the latest news from the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, where President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo has consistently shown itself to be a constructive party, while Serbia continues with the selective approach that prevents the full implementation of the Brussels agreement and the annex of Ohrid&#8221;, according to the communiqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>A proposal for the draft statute of the Association was presented to Kosovo and Serbia, during the meetings of international diplomats on October 21. The EU has said that this proposal is a European model.<\/p>\n<p>Its contents have not been disclosed so far and the parties have been asked not to reveal details about it.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, during a visit to Belgrade on October 31, declared that the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement is a de facto recognition of Kosovo&#8217;s independence from Serbia.
