{"id":62520,"date":"2023-11-08T21:33:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-08T20:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=62520"},"modified":"2023-11-08T21:33:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-08T20:33:07","slug":"special-court-rejects-former-pm-berishas-request-for-security-measures-removal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/special-court-rejects-former-pm-berishas-request-for-security-measures-removal\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Court rejects former PM Berisha\u2019s request for security measure\u2019s removal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) rejected Sali Berisha&#8217;s request for the removal of the security measure, while hearings continued for the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Berisha, Jamarb\u00ebr Malltez.<\/p>\n<p>GJKKO also rejected Berisha&#8217;s request for the exclusion from the case of judge Irena Gjoka.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the lawyer of the former prime minister, Genc Gjokutaj, told for the media that they made a preliminary request for the dismissal of judge Irena Gjoka, as well as requested the removal of the security measure for Sali Berisha.<\/p>\n<p>Both requests filed were rejected by the court.<\/p>\n<p>We remind you that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is a person under investigation in the &#8220;Partizani&#8221; file for &#8220;Passive corruption of senior officials or local elected officials carried out in cooperation, provided for by article 260 and 25 of the Penal Code&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>For Sali Berisha, a mandatory security measure has been imposed, while his son-in-law, Jamarb\u00ebr Malltezi, has been arrested for the privatization of the former Partizani complex.
