Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his speech at the Diaspora Summit in Tirana, said that November 22, Alphabet Day, will be a national holiday in Albania as it is for Albanians in North Macedonia.<\/p>\n
Rama advised the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Omani, to suggest the same to her Prime Minister in Kosovo, Albin Kurti.<\/p>\n
“It is the strength of one man, Arb\u00ebr Xhaferri, who had the vision for Alphabet Day, November 22, to be a day known as a national holiday for Albanians in North Macedonia, and I think now is the day that Alphabet Day, which unites us all, to be a national holiday in Albania as well. And I definitely believe that the president of Kosovo will give this suggestion to her Prime Minister. I listen to the president for myself”, said Rama.<\/p>\n
This is the third summit of the Diaspora which has gathered in Tirana at the Palace of Congresses, representatives and well-known figures of the Arb\u00ebr community, researchers, historians. Present at this activity were high political representatives of Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and over 2 thousand compatriots from the diaspora.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, whose name was on the agenda of today’s summit to take the floor after President Vjosa Osmani, has canceled his participation in Tirana at the last moment.<\/p>\n
The journalist of Euronews Albania, Kosovo Gjoci officially asked P\u00ebrparim Kryeziu, spokesperson of the government of Kosovo, about the reasons for Kurti’s absence at this Summit.<\/p>\n
“The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arb\u00ebrie Nagavci, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Liza Gashi, are participating in the Diaspora Summit which is being organized in Tirana by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Also, the President of the country, Vjosa Osmani, is participating. “Due to commitments on the agenda, including today’s session of the Assembly of Kosovo where, at the request of the opposition, he will report on the Progress Report of the European Commission, Prime Minister Kurti was unable to participate in this organization,” replied the government’s spokesperson of Kosovo.<\/p>\n
