“There is no peace without the safety of women”, this was the message that the women and girls present at this protest wanted to convey while holding a large banner.<\/span><\/p>\n One of them, Trina Binaku, demanded justice for the murder of Liridona Ademaj, calling violence against women a disturbing phenomenon in society.<\/span><\/p>\n The murder of Liridona Ademaj caused strong reactions in society, while this protest will not be the only one. Activists from the “Feminist Thought and Action Collective” announced that on Tuesday at 18:00, in “Zahir Pajaziti” square, in Pristina, a larger protest will be organized with the participation of citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n While the head of the government of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, reacted to the murder of Liridona Ademaj a few days ago in a village in Pristina.<\/span><\/p>\n In a post he made on social networks, saying that women and girls are being killed while arresting the perpetrators is not enough.<\/span><\/p>\n Among other things, he underlines that the burden of the injustices of the justice system continues to fall on the shoulders of women and girls, as long as the perpetrators of the crimes do not receive deserved punishments.<\/span><\/p>\n “Liridona Ademaj was killed with premeditation. She was killed because she was a woman.<\/span><\/p>\n Women and girls continue to be killed, while oppressive patriarchal norms are still widespread.<\/span><\/p>\n Arresting criminals is not enough. The burden of the injustices of the justice system continues to fall on the shoulders of women and girls, as long as the perpetrators of the crimes do not receive deserved punishments.<\/span><\/p>\n Today was the hearing, where the three suspects were assigned one month of detention. The orderer, and the accomplice in the murder of Liridona must be punished and receive the maximum sentence. This is done with an effective prosecutorial and judicial system aware of the high social duty they carry.<\/span><\/p>\n The pain is great.
