The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in a post on Facebook regarding the normalization of relations with Serbia in 2024, said that for his Government the priority remains Kosovo’s security, territorial integrity and the improvement of the living conditions of all citizens without distinction.<\/p>\n
Regarding the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo, Kurti said that the president of Serbia, Aleksandar\u00a0Vu\u010di\u0107, has refused to sign the agreement and that the last statement of the mediator in the dialogue, Miroslav Laj\u010d\u00e1k, means that the issue of the draft statute is “only an internal issue of Kosovo”.<\/p>\n
“…In the next year, I can write a modern European draft in consultation with my ministers Nenad Rashi\u010d (Community and Return) and Elbert Krasniqi (Local Government Administration)”, wrote Kurti on his Facebook account.<\/p>\n
He said that the agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia “can be signed at the European Council Summit”, which will be held on March 21 and 22, 2024.<\/p>\n
Kosovo and Serbia accepted the agreement on the normalization of relations at the end of February and an annex document for its implementation was agreed in Ohrid in mid-March. However, Kosovo insisted on signing these documents, which Serbia refused.<\/p>\n
On December 14, the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabi\u0107, submitted an official letter to the headquarters of the European Union, where she expresses reservations about the obligations arising from the agreement on the path towards the normalization of relations with Kosovo, including the implementing annex. High officials of Serbia have said on several occasions that they will never accept Kosovo’s membership in the United Nations.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Kosovo is being asked to form the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo based on a draft statute which was presented to Kosovo and Serbia in October by representatives of the EU, USA, France, Germany and Italy.<\/p>\n
