The Special Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Kosovo has filed an indictment against M.M in the case related to the murder of the Serb politician from Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
M.M, a member of the Serbian community, was arrested by the Kosovo Police on October 19, 2022, under suspicion of being a member \u201cof an organized criminal group\u201d linked to Ivanovi\u0107\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n
As announced by the Special Prosecutor\u2019s Office, the indictment against M.M has been filed based on the suspicion that he committed criminal acts: \u201cParticipation or organization of an organized criminal group\u201d, \u201cObstruction of proving or official procedures\u201d, \u201cThreats\u201d, and \u201cForgery of documents\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe case is related to the murder of the late Oliver Ivanovi\u0107, where the accused, as part of the group, took actions after the occurrence of the murder, obstructing the criminal procedure. After the investigation, he used forged documents and threatened official persons who conducted criminal proceedings against him,\u201d said the Prosecutor\u2019s Office in its statement.<\/p>\n
Ivanovi\u0107 was killed on January 16, 2018, with six shots in the back, in front of his party\u2019s building in North Mitrovica. More than five years after the murder, the case remains unresolved.<\/p>\n
For Ivanovi\u0107\u2019s case, the Special Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Kosovo has also filed three other indictments.<\/p>\n
The indictments mention individuals who, as stated, \u201cknowingly and intentionally assisted the criminal group in committing the criminal act of Oliver Ivanovi\u0107\u2019s murder\u201d. The perpetrator of the murder or the mastermind behind it is not known.<\/p>\n
Indictments were raised against the police officers Nedeljko Spasojevi\u0107, Radeta Basara, Zharko Jovanovi\u0107, as well as against Oliver Ivanovi\u0107\u2019s secretary, Silvana Arsovi\u0107, and Marko Ro\u0161i\u0107, a resident of North Mitrovica.<\/p>\n
Investigations into Ivanovi\u0107\u2019s murder are also conducted by the Special Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Serbia, but the case in Serbia is still in the preliminary investigation phase.<\/p>\n
The Ministries of Justice of Kosovo and Serbia do not cooperate, while procedures in Kosovo require the mediation of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) for obtaining witness statements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
