The relations between Albania and Greece continue to be in the center of attention of the Greek media and this is because of the “Beleri” case, which has been the headline of the media for months.<\/p>\n

Recently, the Greek media, ‘Kathimerini’, in an article entitled: “Greece – Albania: Long-term involvement with Beleri”, states that Athens is waiting for Edi Rama’s next move.<\/p>\n

“Athens is waiting for the next initiative of the government of Edi Rama to overcome the long-term involvement in Greek-Albanian relations, which has as its main cause the prolonged detention of the mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri. Shortly before Christmas, Mr. Rama actually announced the dismissal of the acting mayor, Jorgo Goro, who, however, is the loser of last May’s elections. From Goro, it was first announced that he intends to leave the post, while Mr. Rama was looking at three solutions,” writes the Greek media.<\/p>\n

It is further said that official Athens is in constant consultation with Fredi Beleri.<\/p>\n

“Athens is definitely in consultation with Beleri, as a report is being sought in an issue that goes far beyond Greek-Albanian relations and, as has been seen recently, has also influenced the general discussion on the European perspective of the Western Balkans. However, after the recent moves of Prime Minister Rama, some analysts and journalists in Albania believe that the Prime Minister is actually trying to pave the way for repeated elections in the Municipality of Himara”, it is further stated in the article of the Hellenic newspaper.<\/p>\n
