January\u2019s long, dark days are the perfect time to start planning for warmer climes. While this month often feels interminable, February half-term is less than four weeks away \u2013 and there are deals to be found, if you\u2019re prepared to deviate from the obvious winter-sun destinations.<\/p>\n

One-way fares to the Albanian capital of Tirana are as low as \u00a313. Opting for a package deal \u2013 particularly in popular summer holiday destinations \u2013 can also prove economical.<\/p>\n

Albania<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many visitors to Albania in winter migrate to the mountains for winter sports, but lower-lying areas have a much milder climate.<\/p>\n

Architecture fans will love the eclectic mix of Ottoman and Soviet-era buildings in Tirana, the country\u2019s capital, where you can also visit the derelict Piramida (a former museum and NATO base), the elegant Et\u2019hem Bey Mosque and BunkArt, a gallery in an underground bunker.<\/p>\n

Durr\u00ebs, a summer resort, is 22 miles away. It\u2019s home to archaeological ruins, including a Roman amphitheater, which includes frescoes and mosaics.<\/p>\n
