The alarm given by the World Health Organization that tumor disease cases will increase by 77% by 2050 also affects Albania.<\/p>\n
According to data from the Global Cancer Observatory, in 2022, 8,000 new cases of various types of tumors will be diagnosed in Albania.<\/p>\n
Breast cancer followed by lung and stomach cancer are the three most common types in Albania.<\/p>\n
And when we talk about mortality, lung cancer has the highest incidence in Albania, followed by stomach cancer, while for women it remains breast cancer.<\/p>\n
The incidence of cancer is higher in men. In 2022, 4,600 cases were men and 3,400 women.<\/p>\n
But experts say that by 2050, the incidence of cancer will increase by 37.3% for both sexes.<\/p>\n
They predict that the number of new cases will exceed 11 thousand people.<\/p>\n
Fatalities will also increase by 41.4%, from 4955 deaths registered in 2022, we will have over 7 thousand deaths in 2050.<\/p>\n
Experts have concluded that the increase in cancer cases is related to the aging of the population, social-economic factors and the exposure of people to risk factors, such as smoking, drug use, alcohol consumption, obesity and air pollution.<\/p>\n
