\u201cGreece\u2019s stance regarding Kosovo remains unchanged,\u201d said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a visit to Belgrade on February 12.<\/p>\n
\u201cEuropean mediation and dialogue are the only ways to normalize relations between the two parties. This would significantly help stability in the region. We are closely monitoring and following the events of recent months,\u201d Mitsotakis said after meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107.<\/p>\n
Greece is among the five European Union states that do not recognize Kosovo\u2019s independence, along with Spain, Cyprus, Slovakia, and Romania.<\/p>\n
The Greek leader said his country supports Serbia on its European path.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe accession of the Western Balkans to the EU is our strategic goal. It is important for Belgrade to take advantage of these positive circumstances in the European procedure. By accelerating reforms in your country, you will get closer to the EU,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Greek Prime Minister also emphasized that progress has been seen in relations between Athens and Belgrade. According to Mitsotakis, cooperation between Greece and Serbia has expanded in the energy sector, and Athens supports EU infrastructure projects and investments in Serbia and the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must use European funds dedicated to the Western Balkans,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 said, \u201cSerbia and Greece have always supported each other\u2019s territorial integrity\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe it will be the same in the future,\u201d Vu\u010di\u0107 said.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that Serbia is \u201cdetermined\u201d to continue its European path and thanked Greece for its support in this direction.<\/p>\n
Vu\u010di\u0107 said he discussed energy with Mitsotakis, specifically oil and gas pipelines, gas purchases, renewable energy sources, but also how Greek companies can help Serbia build these capacities.<\/p>\n
