On February 20, 1991, after several weeks of protests by December students and the last days of hunger strikes, the citizens of Tirana joined in a massive protest, which culminated in the toppling of the monument of the dictator Enver Hoxha.<\/p>\n<p>The date of February 20, 1991, marked the end of the communist regime in Albania.
