More than 51% of Albanians have not made any trips, staying at least one night away from their homes for personal vacation purposes, according to data published by Eurostat.<\/p>\n

Albania ranks eighth on the list of countries whose citizens have the highest percentage of people not taking vacations.<\/p>\n
In Europe, 72% of Bulgarians did not take a vacation in 2022. Romanians are at somewhat similar levels, with 71.8%. Italians rank next at 59.3%, followed by Greeks at 56%, Portuguese at 54.5%, Estonians at 53.4%, and Croatians at 51.8%.<\/p>\n
Norwegians travel the most outside their homes, with only 10.9% of the population not moving for vacations, followed by Swedes at 17.8%.<\/p>\n
70% of those who do not go on vacation in Albania do not have the financial means<\/strong><\/p>\n While Albanians do not rank first in Europe for the percentage of the population not going on vacation, they hold the record for the financial inability to spend at least one night away from home.<\/p>\n When asked for reasons, nearly 70% of Albanians aged 15-64 say they do not go on vacation due to financial reasons, the highest in Europe. 3.2% cited health reasons, 6.1% cited family reasons, while 16.8% were engaged in work or studies.<\/p>\n Bulgarians, who were first in terms of the percentage of the population not going on vacation, seem to not have the time to do so. 42.6% of them said the reason was related to work or studies, and 51.7% said they did not have the financial means.<\/p>\n Romanians also cited reasons such as work and school (26.8%) or family issues (12.1%), while 54.2% did not move for financial reasons.<\/p>\n Finns have \u201cthe biggest\u201d pockets, with only 18.8% of them saying they do not have the financial means to travel outside their homes.<\/p>\n Even for age groups over 65, Albania holds the record for financial inability. 50% of the elderly said they could not, while 38% cited health reasons. In contrast, in other countries, the main reason is health.<\/p>\n The 25-35 age group in Albania travels the most, while the elderly stay at home<\/strong><\/p>\n Retirement is a period that many in Europe take advantage of to travel outside their homes or visit the places they have always dreamed of. For example, Eurostat data shows that in Norway, only 17% of people over 65 did not go on vacation in 2022.<\/p>\n In contrast, in Albania, nearly 72% of people over 65 do not vacation away from home, one of the highest rates in Europe. Bulgarians and Romanians hold the record in Europe again with around 85-88%.<\/p>\n In Albania, the age group that travels the most is between 25-34 years old, where the proportion of those who have not spent a night away from home is 37.8%, the lowest of all other age groups. Following them is the group aged 35-44, at 43.3%.<\/p>\n Albanian youth (15-24 years old) are among those who travel the least, with 50.6% not spending any nights away from home, compared to, for example, the Dutch and Norwegians, who have the lowest weight in Europe at 11.2%.<\/p>\n They may not have the opportunity, but the interest is among the highest in Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n It seems that Albanians want to travel and vacation a lot but do not have the means to do so.
