The United States remains the most important partner for trade relations with Kosovo.<\/p>\n
In addition to being a strategic ally, the US is also the primary partner for Kosovo\u2019s goods exports.<\/p>\n
In January of this year, the value of goods exported to the world reached 20.1 million euros, or 33.4 percent.<\/p>\n
Exports to these countries have a symbolic figure, but as the Kosovo Agency of Statistics indicates, the most important partners for exports to the world were the United States with 14.6 percent and Switzerland with 9.3 percent in January 2024.<\/p>\n
Data from Kosovo\u2019s Foreign Trade Statistics show that Kosovo\u2019s exports to EU countries reached 18.4 million euros, or about 30.5% of total exports, with a decrease of 6.9%.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Kosovo\u2019s imports from EU countries were about 164.4 million euros, or 43.3% of total imports, with an increase of 10.1%.<\/p>\n
Turkey remains the main partner for imports of goods this year as well.<\/p>\n
In January 2024 alone, Kosovo\u2019s imports from other countries reached 158 million euros, or 41.6 percent.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, what remains concerning is that this year also marks a decline in the value of goods exported to the country.<\/p>\n
The export of goods in January of this year amounted to 60.3 million euros, while imports amounted to 380 million euros, which is a decrease of 3 percent for exports and an increase of 7.4 percent for imports compared to the same period in 2023.<\/p>\n
According to data from the main export groups: 25.4% consists of base metals and articles thereof; 19.3% consists of various manufactured articles; 13.1% consists of plastics, rubber, and articles thereof; 8.3% consists of prepared foods, beverages, and tobacco; 6.2% consists of machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment, etc., as stated in the \u201cForeign Trade Statistics, January 2024\u201d report.<\/p>\n
According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics report on foreign trade, data from Kosovo\u2019s Foreign Trade show a higher trade deficit of 9.9 percent in January 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, respectively totaling 319.7 million euros, compared to the deficit of 291.5 million euros in 2023. According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, exports cover imports by 15.9 percent.<\/p>\n
According to data from the main groups for imports: 17.2% consists of mineral products; 11.6% consists of prepared foods, beverages, and tobacco; 11.6% consists of machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment; 11.2% consists of transport equipment; 9.3% consists of base metals and articles thereof, etc.<\/p>\n
Exports from Kosovo to EU countries<\/strong><\/p>\n Exports from Kosovo to EU countries reached 18.4 million euros, or about 30.5% of total exports, with a decrease of 6.9%. The main partners for exports of goods to the EU were: Germany (8.8%), Italy (4.7%), the Netherlands (3.1%), etc.<\/p>\n Imports from EU countries to Kosovo were about 164.4 million euros, or 43.3% of total imports, with an increase of 10.1%. Imports with the highest share were from: Germany (12.8%), Greece (7.2%), Italy (3.7%), etc.<\/p>\n Exports from Kosovo to CEFTA countries<\/strong><\/p>\n Exports from Kosovo to CEFTA countries reached 21.8 million euros, or 36.1% of total exports, with a decrease of 16.2%. The main partners for exports from CEFTA countries were: North Macedonia (12.4%), Albania (11.8%), Serbia (6.3%), Montenegro (3.9%).<\/p>\n Imports from CEFTA countries<\/strong><\/p>\n Imports from CEFTA countries reached 57.7 million euros, or 15.2% of total imports, with a decrease of 5.8%. The countries with the highest share for imports were: Albania (7.6%), North Macedonia (4.7%), Serbia (1.9%).<\/p>\n Exports from Kosovo to other world countries<\/strong><\/p>\n Exports from Kosovo to other world countries reached 20.1 million euros, or 33.4%.
