Consumption in the country seems to have fallen since the end of the summer season. The calculations of the association of bars and restaurants show that the drop is almost 30%, while two factors have influenced this phenomenon.<\/p>\n
“There are two factors; a mass exodus, people no longer tend to hang out in cafes, bars or restaurants. The reasons are self-explanatory. The pandemic changed people and during the weekend they prefer to order from home more. We are affected by any type of innovation, by any type of tax, that the client or consumer escapes from us. 2019 was a very good year, 2020 continued at a pace despite the fact that it was a pandemic and we had an internal boom that we couldn’t go out”, says Enri Jahaj, from the Association of Bars and Restaurants<\/p>\n
November of last year marked the decline of the demand curve for service in this structure, where Jahja also shows how much a citizen with an average salary spends in a bar or restaurant.<\/p>\n
“For a coffee bar, on average, the expenses are 100 to 350 Lek per customer, while in a restaurant I would say it is a little more, it is not at very high rates, from 700 to 1800 Lek”, he says.<\/p>\n
According to Jahaj, the wealthy class, which until yesterday spent at least 15,000 Lek in a restaurant, now seems to have withdrawn from consumption in restaurants.<\/p>\n
The association predicts that with the beginning of the season, the consumption in bars and restaurants will improve, but on the other hand, it is expected that the increase in prices will be inevitable, due to the cost of the salary increase.<\/p>\n
