Albania is one of Europe\u2019s fastest growing beach holiday destinations and spring could be the perfect time to catch a cheap flight to \u201cEurope\u2019s Maldives\u201d.<\/p>\n

As summer nears, many Britons will be planning a\u00a0beach\u00a0escape. But if you\u2019ve had your fill of\u00a0Spain\u00a0or you\u2019re looking for somewhere cheaper than\u00a0France, there\u2019s an affordable alternative that\u2019s been described as Europe\u2019s Maldives.<\/p>\n

Albania\u00a0is one of Europe\u2019s most exciting holiday destinations and for cash-strapped Britons \u2013 it\u2019s also a fantastic bargain.<\/p>\n

According to the travel experts at Bounce, searches for holidays to Albania have soared by over 100 per cent in the last year.<\/p>\n

While Tirana is one of Europe\u2019s best-value city breaks, it\u2019s the country\u2019s beaches that have attracted the most attention.<\/p>\n

When\u2019s the cheapest month to fly?<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the country is set to open a new airport in Vlor\u00eb, currently British tourists can only fly to Tirana in Albania.<\/p>\n

According to KAYAK, November is the cheapest time to fly to Albania but Britons will also find good prices and warm weather in June and September. July and August are the most expensive months to travel to Albania.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Skyscanner recommends flying in May for the cheapest flight to Albania. Temperatures can reach above 25 degrees in May.<\/p>\n

Although Albania only has one international airport, Britons can easily reach the country\u2019s southern beach resorts from Corfu Airport so it\u2019s worth browsing for flights to both airports before booking.<\/p>\n

KAYAK recommends flying on a Tuesday for the lowest prices while flights on a Sunday are the most expensive.<\/p>\n

Where are the best beaches?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ksamil, in Albania\u2019s south, is known as \u201cEurope\u2019s Maldives\u201d and its crystal-clear water and sandy beaches make it a popular destination. Nearby Saranda is a beach resort town with a city beach and plenty of bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n

Durr\u00ebs is under an hour\u2019s half drive from Tirana, making it a great choice for Britons short on time. The beaches are a little crowded so nearby Vlor\u00eb is a better option for tourists with more time.<\/p>\n

Between Vlor\u00eb and Saranda, tourists will find Himar\u00eb which is home to some of the country\u2019s prettiest beaches including Dh\u00ebrmi Beach and Gjipe Beach.<\/p>\n

Albania\u2019s main tourist beaches can be pretty noisy and crowded during peak season, so if that\u2019s not your scene, consider renting a car to reach more secluded spots.<\/p>\n

Essential information<\/strong><\/p>\n

July and August are the hottest months of the year in Albania and temperatures regularly reach 30 degrees. June and September are also generally warm while the temperature is pleasant in May.<\/p>\n

Tourists will need to have at least three months left on their passport to travel to Albania and can stay for a maximum of 90 days in every six months.<\/p>\n
