“This year’s theme is ‘You end stereotypes’ because it is known that we still need the community to be aware of Down Syndrome, and we are right here and I am very happy to see today children who are already 10-11 years old and apart from going to public schools, in the future they will make their contribution to society,” said Lindita Senja.<\/p>\n
Neki \u00c7ela, grandfather of a child with Down Syndrome, raises the concern of removing the guardianship payment, according to them, an abuse for these children who absolutely need a companion.<\/p>\n
“What can I describe how difficult it is, when you already know. He wants a person with him at every step, they have taken away the companion that holds him, this happens because of the country we live in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even for Xhemile Ko\u00e7i, life with her 15-year-old daughter affected by this syndrome has not been easy at all.<\/p>\n
“My life has become more beautiful with this child, I want to say, but it has been difficult because we did not recognize this syndrome. My sufferings were very great until I approached with the syndrome, because initially she was aggressive and did not want children around. I wish every mother who has this child with Down’s syndrome to be the happiest in the world, because at first it will be a little difficult, but it will be a joy all her life”.<\/p>\n
“We have difficulties due to the economic situation, because she is a child who needs all the conditions, and with the money we get we can not get everything she needs, because she takes the medicine month by month.”<\/p>\n
Based on the categorization of mental retardation, the guardianship payment for down syndrome is waived. They benefit only the defined categories with severe mental retardation.<\/p>\n
