Arben Taravari, the candidate for president of North Macedonia from the opposition coalition VLEN, says that his main priority is the acceleration of the country’s European integration.<\/p>\n
“In the event that I win the elections, the first issue I would ask from the representative for the formation of the new Government, after the elections, on May 8, would be the acceleration of the constitutional changes, for the inclusion of the Bulgarian minority in its preamble, which is a condition for membership talks”, says Taravari in an interview for Radio Free Europe.<\/p>\n
He says that he would seek a guarantee from Brussels that there will be no new conditions for North Macedonia on its path to integration into the European Union.<\/p>\n
Another priority for Taravari is the removal of North Macedonia from the “Open Balkans” initiative.<\/p>\n
Taravari, the candidate of the VLEN coalition, in which the opposition parties of the Albanians of North Macedonia have joined, considers that a “clean” political career, as he says, without scandals and affairs, is an advantage over his direct opponent, Bujar Osmani from the Democratic Union for Integration.<\/p>\n
