{"id":68477,"date":"2024-04-10T20:52:26","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T18:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=68477"},"modified":"2024-04-10T21:53:39","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T19:53:39","slug":"who-3500-deaths-per-day-from-hepatitis-albania-with-high-prevalence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/who-3500-deaths-per-day-from-hepatitis-albania-with-high-prevalence\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO: 3500 deaths per day from Hepatitis, Albania with high prevalence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lives lost as a result of viral hepatitis are increasing all over the world as a result of not diagnosing the disease in time.<\/p>\n<p>The latest report drawn up by the World Health Organization warns that every day 3500 people die as a result of viral liver infections.<\/p>\n<p>Albania, like the countries in the region, has a high prevalence of Hepatitis B and C.<\/p>\n<p>The disease that affects the liver, if not treated, leads to liver cancer.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Global Hepatitis Report 2024, viral hepatitis is the second leading infectious cause of death globally, with 1.3 million deaths annually, up from 1.1 million previously. Of these, 83% were caused by hepatitis B and 17% by hepatitis C.<\/p>\n<p>According to WHO expert data, about 304 million people were living with viral Hepatitis B and C in 2022. Chronic hepatitis B and C infection is more common in the 30-54 age group and men account for 58% of the total cases.<\/p>\n<p>Hepatitis is more prevalent in some risk groups such as intravenous drug users, hemophiliacs and polytransfused patients, in which it can reach 70-80%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lives lost as a result of viral hepatitis are increasing all over the world as a result of not diagnosing the disease in time.
