The World Bank expects that the public debt in Albania will continue to decrease. It predicts that it will reach 58.2% of the Gross Domestic Product at the end of this year.<\/p>\n
The public debt has decreased by 100 million euros in 2023, reaching 59.2% of the Gross Domestic Product. In value, the annual debt decreased to 13.4 billion euros, from 13.5 billion euros at the end of 2022.<\/p>\n
Debt positions are decreasing in relation to the country’s GDP because the economy had a positive performance, and on the other hand the Gross Domestic Product increased by 1.6 billion euros, and reached 22.6 billion euros in total.<\/p>\n
The good fiscal situation has influenced its quick repayment, as well as the performance of the exchange rate with the euro, which has depreciated against the lek.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the progress of the debt in Albania has also been seen by the World Bank, which in its analysis of the economy, predicts that this year the stock of debt will fall further to 58.2 percent of the GDP, and that the decline will continue in the period medium term.<\/p>\n
The further reduction of the debt would improve the image of Albania among investors, mainly among foreigners, while the economy as a whole remains stable for the World Bank.<\/p>\n
In the forecasts for 2024, the WB estimates that “economic growth is expected to reach 3.3 percent.<\/p>\n
