The underground of Durr\u00ebs continues to “gift” new and important archaeological discoveries, carefully preserved between the layers of soil.<\/p>\n
The resumption of excavations at the construction site of the “Gjergj Kastrioti” high school, where a floral mosaic of the 1st century BC was discovered months ago, has brought to light other important findings.<\/p>\n
“There are discussions of the discovery of a wall which closes the entire territory of the Villa. We also have a house, which was destroyed during the earthquake of the fourth century and we found the roof fallen on the floor. There are many decorative elements, related to the decoration of the walls and ceiling”, says Luan Perzhita, archeologist.<\/p>\n
These refinishes of the interior lining of the villa, tiles with Mediterranean decorations, especially in Pompeii, date from before and after the birth of Christ.<\/p>\n
“These mainly belong to the c. BC and c. After our era, which is more or less related to the dating of the previously discovered floral mosaic”, says the archaeologist.<\/p>\n
The floral mosaic, dated from the end of the first century and the beginning of the second century, found in a luxurious villa near the amphitheater of Durr\u00ebs, has been evaluated as one of the most interesting discoveries of the underground of the city.<\/p>\n
Archaeological excavations are taking place in the area where the “Gjergj Kastrioti” school is expected to be built, with a depth of 6.75 meters and a previously shared area of \u200b\u200b560 m\u00b2. For these excavations, the Municipality of Durr\u00ebs has allocated a fund of about 13 million new ALL.<\/p>\n
