According to the Jewish calendar, this day symbolizes the fall of the Jewish ghetto after the courageous rebellion of the Jews of Poland.<\/p>\n
There are 132,826 Holocaust survivors living in Israel today. 2,500 survivors were victims of the horrific attack on October 7. 2000 of them were evacuated from their homes.<\/p>\n
The Embassy of Israel in Tirana held a private ceremony today at the Holocaust monument, with the Jewish and Israeli community in Albania.<\/p>\n
In her speech, Ambassador Galit Peleg mentioned the attack in the south of Israel on October 7, which is considered the most terrible attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The ambassador also referred to the growing anti-Semitism in Europe and the US and said that no one should be silent about it and that the world should prove that “Never again” is not just an empty slogan.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Peleg said that just like 80 years ago, Albania shows its courage by standing firm against anti-Semitism and terror.<\/p>\n
