The High Judicial Council presented this Monday the national strategy for justice, where the focus was on the phenomenon of backlog files waiting for judgment.<\/p>\n
From the analysis, it appears that there are about 114,000 files that are waiting to be judged, making this issue become the main problem in the delivery of justice in this country. Present at this table were representatives of political parties and the diplomatic body in the country. The presentation of the main points of the strategy was made by Ardian Dvorani.<\/p>\n
“To increase the number of legal assistants, up to 2 per judge, salary increase and revision of the procedures for obtaining them. The system should have legal assistants up to twice the total number of judges,” said Dvorani.<\/p>\n
Therefore, the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires of the US embassy, \u200b\u200bDavid Wisner, emphasized during the conference that it is necessary to take more difficult steps. He said that more cooperation between the government and institutions is needed.<\/p>\n
“Your choices put the justice system on solid foundations and will generate a future in justice that meets the needs of Albanians. The steps you have taken to improve the situation have been painful. The vetting has caused disruption, but it was necessary and you took that difficult step. It’s time for more complicated steps. It encourages you to take harder steps that address other challenges. Institutions and the government must work together and commit resources to the strategy that is being discussed today,” said David Wisner.<\/p>\n
One of the most important changes foreseen in the National Justice Strategy is the increase in the range of cases that can be tried at the appellate level with a single judge, criminal, civil and administrative cases.<\/p>\n
