The European Union has criticized on Tuesday a police action by the Kosovar authorities in the north of Kosovo against financial offices, describing it as de-escalating and one-sided.<\/p>\n
“Monday’s operations prove once again that the Kosovo authorities prioritize unilateral and uncoordinated actions more than cooperation with friends and allies on the ground,” EU spokesman Peter Stano said in a press release.<\/p>\n
During Monday’s action, the authorities in Kosovo closed six facilities of the Post Savings Bank and the People’s Bank of Serbia in the four municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosovo, writes Radio Free Europe.<\/p>\n
During the action, which the Kosovo authorities said was about establishing “order and legality”, various evidence, including money, were confiscated.<\/p>\n
Like the United States earlier, the European Union called the decision of the Kosovar authorities an uncoordinated and de-escalating action.<\/p>\n
“The closing and confiscation of these offices without prior warning, or without coordination, just a few days after the last dialogue meeting, which also dealt with the issue of these Postal Savings bank facilities, it is an de-escalation and goes against the spirit of normalization and harms the good will of Kosovo in achieving the normalization of relations through dialogue”, stated in the communiqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n
