Sculptors from all over the world turned the coast of Durr\u00ebs into an outdoor gallery for 3 days in a row.<\/p>\n
This was “Seaside Sand Art”, the activity that brought together 16 artists from different countries, who composed and reproduced the most special portraits in the sand.<\/p>\n
Organizer Indrit Hamiti gave the details for Euronews Albania.<\/p>\n
“About 16 Albanian and foreign artists from Croatia, Armenia, Kosovo, China, Italy and Albanians are participating. They have prepared their works in the sand in the form of a circle with 12 works, which symbolizes the clock, the passing of time, the temporality of experiences”, said organizer Indrit Hamiti.<\/p>\n
“From what we see, all those who pass by the promenade stop to take pictures, enter and communicate with the artists. I see it as a very interesting attraction and perhaps in contrast with a kind of collective culture of Tallava.”<\/p>\n
This activity was also interesting for the foreign participants, who were visiting Albania for the first time.<\/p>\n
“I come from Italy, I have a world experience as far as sculpture is concerned, but this is the first time I come to Albania. I thought I would come and see, what is this land that is talked about so much in Italy.<\/p>\n
So far I have the best impressions. This organization is quite interesting and so are the participants”, – Angelo Gabriele Fierro, sculptor.<\/p>\n
“We come from China and this is our first visit to Albania, to participate in this artistic activity and to communicate and collaborate with many artists.<\/p>\n
We present here two works, one is this panda behind us and the other is a two-part sculpture, “yin and yang” by the sea. As I believe you know, the latter is an ancient Chinese philosophy that we wanted to bring here.”<\/p>\n
While the Albanians of Albania and those of Kosovo appealed for the activity to become an annual tradition.<\/p>\n
“I think it would be very good for us as artists, but also for the city itself, for this to turn into an annual culture”, said the sculptor Alep Toska.<\/p>\n
“I believe that it will already become a kind of tradition, why not turn it into an annual event?” said Arton Behrami.<\/p>\n
“Durr\u00ebs is known for its community of artists, so it has all the possibilities to become an art center for Albania” – said the organizer Indrit Hamiti.<\/p>\n
At the end of the activity, the jury composed of well-known names of Albanian art evaluated the best.<\/p>\n
The first prize was given to the artist from Kosovo, Selam Kastrati, who realized in the sand an idea inspired by his girlfriend.<\/p>\n
The work represented an intimate embrace between the couple, reminiscent of an octopus, where the limbs are fused into one by the force of love.<\/p>\n
