The special commission for the fight against corruption will consist of 11 members, 6 members will be from the majority and 5 members from the opposition. In Thursday’s session, only the setting up of the special commission and not its composition is expected to be voted on.<\/p>\n
The Special Commission in implementation of the resolution of the Assembly “On the deepening of reforms for good governance, the rule of law and anti-corruption for Albania 2030 in the European Union” has as its main purpose to lead and coordinate an in-depth reform process, with the aim of: 1) improving and consolidating good governance practices at all levels, 2) deepening the fight against corruption and 3) further strengthening law enforcement, having as a guide the findings and recommendations of the reports of the European Union and the Screening report of the European Commission for the first chapter, as well as addressing the measures of the guides approved by the government “On the rule of law” and “Reform in public administration”.<\/p>\n
As a rule, the commission will consist of Chairmen and Vice-chairmen of the Standing Committees: for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights (2); for Economy and Finance (2); for European Affairs (2); for Education and Public Information Means (2); and the National Council of European Integration (2).<\/p>\n
Next to the Special Commission, in order to realize a process as comprehensive and transparent as possible, a working group of local and international experts with proposed representatives will be set up and operate from justice institutions, independent institutions and law-enforcement executive agencies, public administration, the academic world, public and non-public universities, institutes and organizations of civil society and the media, as well as business organizations, etc.<\/p>\n
Any other non-parliamentary party, which is not included in this committee, will be invited to participate in the open activities, as well as to offer concrete contributions to the committee and the group of experts.<\/p>\n
