The high representative for foreign policy and security of the European Union, Josep Borrell, has met in Austria with the foreign ministers of the Western Balkan states.<\/p>\n
“We discussed how to build a more united Europe together,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n
In this meeting, which was held on June 20, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, Donika G\u00ebrvalla, also participated.<\/p>\n
In Austria, the meetings between the representatives of the EU and those of the Western Balkans continue today. G\u00ebrvalla wrote on Facebook that at the meeting she will present Kosovo’s positions on security in Europe and the region, but also on the reforms undertaken in the field of the rule of law.<\/p>\n
“We will advocate for the acceleration of the European Union membership process as well as the need to take concrete actions to preserve peace and stability in the Western Balkans,” G\u00ebrvalla wrote.<\/p>\n
The European Union announced earlier in the week that in Austria, Borrell, in addition to participating in joint discussions, will also hold bilateral meetings with the top diplomats.<\/p>\n
The focus of the two-day meetings of the group of “Foreign Ministers of the Danube” and “Friends of the Western Balkans” is on the relations between the EU and the Western Balkans, wrote Radio Free Europe.<\/p>\n
The six states of the Western Balkans, which aspire to be at different stages on their way to membership in the European bloc.<\/p>\n
Of these, Serbia and Montenegro are the two states that have made the most progress towards membership in the European bloc, having opened several chapters in the membership talks.
