The European Council approved today an aid of 13 million euros for the Armed Forces of Albania, with the aim of increasing the operational effectiveness of the Albanian Armed Forces, especially in terms of mobility, maneuverability and defense.<\/p>\n

“Albania is a reliable partner for security and a candidate country for the EU. Today’s decision is an important achievement in our security and defense cooperation. Also, it reflects our assessment of Albania’s position in full line with the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy, a very clear expression of Albania’s strategic choice for a future within the EU,\u201d said Josep Borrell, High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy<\/span><\/p>\n

The decision is a concrete result of the growing engagement with Albania in the field of security and defense, reflecting Albania’s full alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, says a European Council announcement.<\/span><\/p>\n

The European Peace Mechanism will provide equipment that is not designed to produce physical elimination force and, where needed, other supplies and services, including technical training. The Albanian Ground Forces will receive multi-functional light armored vehicles. These vehicles are equipped to ensure high mobility and maneuverability in all types of terrain and weather conditions, as well as to ensure personnel protection against small arms and explosives.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
