19 years ago, Gjirokastra became part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. As part of this anniversary, a series of activities were held to celebrate the cultural wealth in the stone city.
\nPainting exhibitions, various publications as well as “Albanian Film Week” were some of these activities which promoted the values \u200b\u200binherited from generations of Gjirokastra.<\/p>\n
“The Municipality of Gjirokastra has undertaken a series of activities on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of Gjirokastra in UNESCO, the opening of the activities was carried out with the Children’s Cultural Center ‘Fato Berberi’ with the exhibition of paintings” – says Violeta Panajoti, Director of Activities in Gjirokastra.<\/p>\n
Anastas Lako, the manager of the “Gjirokastra” cinema announced that the restored Albanian films will be shown with English subtitles in order to attract tourists who have decided to visit this city.<\/p>\n
“This week, Albanian films will be shown, restored films and they have a feature, all the restored films will also be with English subtitles, adapting to the large flow of visitors that the city of Gjirokastra has in this summer season, then there will be also many tourists, who will watch Albanian films” – he said.<\/p>\n
While Alban Metushi, the manager of the “Apostol Meksi” library, said that it has become possible to organize an exhibition that reflects the culture, tradition, architecture of the city of Gjirokastra, but also its surroundings.<\/p>\n
The aim of the developed activities program was also to promote the tourist resources of the city and its surroundings. We recall that July 15, 2005 marked the moment when Gjirokastra museum was classified as a property with unique values, part of UNESCO.<\/p>\n
