Saranda and the beaches of Ksamil and Mirror<\/strong><\/p>\n The country is not only about churches, mosques, archaeological sites, and historic cities; it also boasts beautiful beaches and resorts ideal for relaxation and fun. Saranda is one such place, renowned for its nightlife, excellent restaurants, and stunning Mediterranean beaches. Notable examples include Pul\u00ebbardha beach and the beautiful Ksamil.<\/p>\n Ksamil is a small village whose coastline features coves, mini-islands, forests, and lagoons that sparkle as the sun sets. There are many beaches and small beaches in the area. Located in the south of the country, just 15 minutes from Saranda, Ksamil\u2019s name can be translated as \u201cthe pearl of the Ionian\u201d. It is the capital of sun, sand, and sea.<\/p>\n The beaches facing west are near the northern tip of the Greek island of Corfu and share a similar vibe. The four islands off the Ksamil coast can be explored by kayak or boat, but the main beach consists of small rocks with clear blue waters. The area is family-friendly, and nearby are the Roman ruins of Butrint.<\/p>\n Mirror beach is nearby and gets its name because its waters reflect the sun with a thousand glints. The waters are deeply blue, and the soft, white sand gradually turns into pebbles as it gives way to the sea.<\/p>\n Additionally, there are some rock formations that offer privacy, and snorkelling is possible due to the marine life and caves. However, Mirror beach is very popular in summer and boasts beautiful sunsets, so it\u2019s best visited as the sun is setting. It\u2019s a 15-minute drive from Saranda.<\/p>\n Palasa beach<\/strong><\/p>\n This beach is located in the Vlor\u00eb County, along the Llogara Pass. It is a beautiful beach with pristine waters set against a charming backdrop of forests and cliffs. The waters here are deep and clear, while closer to the shore, there are calm and shallow pools perfect for children.<\/p>\n Though it feels remote, it has bars and restaurants, so it is quite well-equipped for visitors. You can also continue your journey to explore the nearby mountains.<\/p>\n Potam beach<\/strong><\/p>\n Located at the northern tip of the Albanian Riviera, near Dh\u00ebrmi and Himar\u00eb, this beach is close to Llaman beach, making it a popular combination for visitors. Potam also features a mountainous backdrop and lush greenery, providing ample shade throughout the day\u2014ideal if it\u2019s hot.<\/p>\n It also has bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n Drymades beach<\/strong><\/p>\n Situated south of Palasa, near the village of Dh\u00ebrmi, Drymades beach is truly stunning: it features extensive white sands, turquoise waters, and many colourful umbrellas. Additionally, there is a large rock formation that divides the beach into two parts, transitioning from sand to pebbles. The beach is known for its beautiful sunsets.<\/p>\n Jali beach<\/strong><\/p>\n Also known as Plazhi i Jal\u00ebs, Jali beach is considered one of the best Albanian beaches for swimming. Compared to neighbouring beaches, it stands out for its water clarity and deep blue colour.<\/p>\n It is popular for having one of Albania\u2019s best nightclubs or discotheques. If you are camping, you can stay at the southern end of the beach.<\/p>\n Bunec beach<\/strong><\/p>\n Situated on the way to Saranda, but a bit further south, Bunec beach is a long sandy stretch perfect for sunbathing. It is never too crowded, has a picturesque pier, and the coast is framed by mountains.<\/p>\n Bunec features turquoise waters, white sands, and excellent views of the Ionian coast. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes.<\/p>\n Borsh beach<\/strong><\/p>\n Located in the centre of the Albanian Riviera, near the village of Qeparo, just 7 kilometres away, Borsh beach is the largest beach in Albania, with white pebbles, blue waters, and beautiful views of the country\u2019s coastal mountains.<\/p>\n It is bordered by olive trees and is easily accessible by car, with even parking available. If you rent a car and plan to travel along the coast, it is an excellent stop. Fortunately, despite its popularity, it is not too crowded.<\/p>\n It\u2019s approximately an hour from Saranda.<\/p>\n Filikuri beach<\/strong><\/p>\n This beach is ideal if you seek something more secluded. Located between Potam and Llaman beach, it is a hidden gem of the Albanian Riviera, just a few kilometres from the popular Himar\u00eb.<\/p>\n High cliffs shield the bay, and its turquoise, calm waters are perfect for swimming. It is semi-private as it can only be reached by kayak or boat. Only the most adventurous will attempt to descend the unmarked path down the cliff to the beach.<\/p>\n These are just a few of the wonderful beaches awaiting you on the Albanian coast. Indeed, the Albanian Riviera is fantastic, with some of the best beaches in the Balkans and Europe. Surprisingly, Albanian beaches feature blue waters and white sands, often with a stunning mountainous backdrop.<\/p>\n Many of the northern beaches are pebble-strewn, but sandy beaches can be found more in and around Ksamil. For example, Dh\u00ebrmi and Bunec are known for their white sands.<\/p>\n
