Representatives of tourist businesses say that about 60% of tourists come with organized groups, while the rest travel as families or individuals.<\/p>\n
Mostly foreign tourists in this period prefer to visit the cultural monuments as well as the historical and architectural values \u200b\u200bof the stone city.<\/p>\n
“The months of September and October are part of the peak of the tourist season for Gjirokastra because it is known that these are the months of the cultural tourism season and Gjirokastra is one of the main destinations, the number of visitors has been very high these days, we are all witnesses, you have seen the shopping streets full, all the accommodation structures are mostly reserved because they are cultural tourism groups,” says the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Maksim Hoxha.<\/p>\n
The high trend of tourist attendance is expected to continue during the fall.<\/p>\n
Already, about 80% of the accommodation capacities are exhausted for the months of September and October, making the city of Gjirokastra and its surroundings a tourist destination even at the national level.<\/p>\n
“This September progress is also for the month of October until the first week of November, we hope that there will be continuity even after the first week of November, anyway until this period we are talking about, Gjirokastra is 70-80% closed as far as regarding bookings,” said the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Maksim Hoxha.<\/p>\n
During the summer period, Gjirokastra was visited by a high number of tourists, positively affecting the development of the local economy and the creation of jobs.<\/p>\n
