Kosovo’s chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, and Serbia’s, Petar Petkovi\u0107, have held two separate talks with the EU’s special envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, who seems to have failed to convince them for a tripartite meeting with Tuesday in Brussels.<\/p>\n
Bislimi met twice with Lajcak on Tuesday morning and told reporters after the meeting that a tripartite meeting with Petkovi\u0107 failed after Serbia “conditioned the agenda of the meeting on unacceptable demands for Kosovo”.<\/p>\n
“There was only one point on the agenda, moving forward with the implementation of the agreement on the normalization of relations. But it was emphasized that additional topics could be discussed if both sides agree. We agreed on this, but Serbia wanted to condition its participation in the meeting with additional topics on the agenda, which were not acceptable to the Kosovar side”, said Bislimi, writes KosovaPress.<\/p>\n
Bislimi did not explain what demands the Serbian side added to condition participation in the tripartite meeting.<\/p>\n
However, Serbian chief negotiator Petkovic accused Bislimi of refusing to meet with representatives of Belgrade because of his insistence on topics such as the Association of Serb-majority municipalities.<\/p>\n
“What kind of normalization is this, if you don’t want to talk about the key issue such as the Association of Serb-majority municipalities. A key issue is also how the Serbs are living in Kosovo”, said Petkovic.<\/p>\n
He confirmed that he handed Lajcak a list of arrested Serbs who, according to Petkovi\u0107, are “political prisoners”.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister’s Office announces that this meeting took place in a bilateral format, while there was no trilateral meeting, due to Serbia’s refusal to participate in such a meeting.<\/p>\n
