In the middle of September, the Albanian government’s decision to increase pensions came into force. But how much does this increase enable them to buy even the minimum basket products?<\/p>\n
“Many products have grown, so much so that we cannot afford them. We could not buy all the products that the bazaar has. He increased pensions by 4%, for himself he increased by 4 million, pensioners by 4%. We don’t have, so we take this. I wanted to get other things, but I couldn’t get them,” said a citizen.<\/p>\n
“I don’t know who increased the prices, these or the suppliers. But the prices have increased too much, tomato 150-200 lek. You will eat as little as possible. You don’t fill the plate completely, you will fill the plate halfway and you will be able to afford living,” said another citizen.<\/p>\n
Traders also accept the increase in the prices of basket foods, adding that this increase is due to the lack of local production and the obligation to buy imported goods.<\/p>\n
“They have increased a lot, there is no country goods, the heat spoiled them. It comes from outside, it will grow normally. We get local production, but there is none. There is no domestic production, it comes from abroad, transport, abuse, we are the last here. Profit in the bag,” said a merchant.<\/p>\n
A year ago, a kg of tomatoes would cost 100 ALL while this year it costs 150 ALL, a kg of peppers cost 80 ALL while this year 110 ALL, a kg of potatoes cost 30 ALL while this year it costs 60 ALL.<\/p>\n
